Inspectors from South Australia’s consumer watchdog will be out in force this week, ensuring service stations are complying with the state’s real time petrol price monitoring scheme.

An April fuel monitoring blitz has resulted in nine petrol stations being hit with fines totalling nearly $8,000 and another eleven under investigation, as the state government seeks to significantly strengthen its powers to crack-down on misleading behaviour.

A contractor who accepted tens of thousands of dollars worth of deposits from consumers for window installation work that was never done has been fined $3,000 and ordered to repay more than $30,000, after enforcement action by the state’s consumer watchdog.
