South Australia’s consumer watchdog has issued a public warning against an Adelaide Hills-based business, after a series of complaints from customers.
Commissioner for Consumer Affairs Dini Soulio said Consumer and Business Services had received 11 complaints relating to Samuel Baligac and his business Balco Transportable, which offers a range of transportable buildings for sale on its website -www.balcotransportable.com.au.
“In a number of cases, customers have told us they paid substantial sums to this business to erect transportable buildings on their properties,” Mr Soulio said.
“The total loss experienced by customers is alleged to be in excess of $215,000.”
Mr Soulio said he was satisfied there were reasonable grounds to suspect Mr Bagliac may have breached section 158(7) of the Australian Consumer Law - which prohibits businesses and individuals from accepting payment and failing to provide the relevant services or goods within a reasonable time.
“Any complaint of this nature is taken seriously, and Consumer and Business Services is continuing to investigate the matter,” he said.
“While this matter is under investigation, we would warn customers not to deal with Mr Baligac or Balco Transportable.”
