Consumer and Business Services has been advised that Unleash Solar Pty Ltd (trading as Unleash Solar) has been placed into voluntary administration.

Commissioner Paul White said his team of investigators had conducted raids and seized documents since CBS issued a public warning yesterday.

“We have now been informed that Austin Taylor and Tony Jones from Meertens have been appointed administrators for Unleash Solar,” Commissioner White said.

“We will now work with the administrators to resolve consumer complaints with the aim of getting faulty equipment replaced or refunds issued.

“Our team of investigators will continue to investigate the company records and interview complainants to determine potential further action that can be taken against the company.

“Late last week, we received several complaints about Unleash Solar, mostly relating to faulty inverters on solar panel systems.

"We attempted to work with the company director to resolve the complaints, and we will now continue that work with the administrators.

“Since we issued our public warning yesterday, we’ve received a further 23 complaints about Unleash Solar, bringing the total number of complaints to 40.

“Solar complaints have been growing in recent years, and topped the list of complaints with 218 complaints relating to solar panel installations being received in 2012.

“If consumers have outstanding claims against Unleash Solar, they should contact the Administrators for assistance, or contact CBS on 131 882.

“Further advice about solar panel installation is available on the Solar Systems fact sheet.
