A suburban real estate agency is due in court in August charged with breaching the Australian Consumer Law (SA). The Commissioner for Consumer Affairs will allege the agency made false or misleading representations in connection with the sale of a piece of land – by advertising the land for sale in The Advertiser and suburban editions of the Messenger Newspaper for $550,000 when the vendor’s acceptable price for the sale of the land was $600,000. The agency has been charged with four breaches of the Australian Consumer Law and four breaches of the Land and Business (Sale and Conveyancing Act), with the matter due in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on August 15.
